Housekeeping Staff Training Plan for Small Hotels

Consistent rooms depend on consistent training. A one-week plan with sign-off gets new staff up to standard.

Week one

1. Day 1: tour, safety, chemicals, room order
2. Day 2: shadow an experienced housekeeper
3. Day 3: clean with supervision using the checklist
4. Day 4: clean alone; the supervisor inspects every room
5. Day 5: sign-off, or extend training

Safety

Train staff on the safety data sheets for cleaning chemicals, gloves, lifting technique and never mixing products.

Ongoing

• Monthly refresher on recurring failures
• Rotate inspections
• Recognise good work using guest comments
